As part of the Clare Valley 2024 Festival of the Lamb, Knappstein and Nyowee Poll Merino invite you to a Fire and Feast long lunch, a celebration of fine food, wine, and tradition set in the atmospheric shearing shed.
This special event brings together the finest elements of the Clare Valley, blending the robust flavors of local lamb with the vibrant tastes of Italian cuisine. As the centerpiece of the day, a long table laden with dishes inspired by Italy’s rich culinary heritage will be set against the backdrop of the shearing shed’s weathered timbers. Guests will savor slow-cooked lamb prepared over fire, accompanied by an array of Italian-inspired sides and delicacies, all perfectly paired with Knappstein’s award-winning wines.
Knappstein Wines has a storied history deeply intertwined with the Clare Valley’s rich winemaking heritage. The winery, known for its premium wines and historic buildings, reflects the evolution of winemaking in one of Australia’s most renowned wine regions.
One of the defining features of Goodonga is its historic shearing shed. Shearing sheds were central to the operations of many farms in the area, serving as the site where wool was sheared, sorted, and prepared for market. The shearing shed at Goodonga, with its weathered timbers and rustic charm, stands as a testament to the property’s long association with sheep farming and wool production—a tradition that continues to this day with the Nyowee Poll Merino sheep.
Goodonga Shearing Shed is on the way from Auburn to Balaklava.
